Since 2016, Myrqvist has built a strong reputation for crafting timeless, high-quality footwear at a reasonable price. The Swedish brand has now opened its first store in Norway, right on Valkyriegata in Oslo — and I stopped by for their grand opening.

On one of the busiest streets in Oslo’s west end, surrounded by cafés and fashion boutiques, you’ll now find a pristine and thoughtfully designed shoe store bearing the name Myrqvist. The Swedish brand showcases an impressive lineup of classic footwear — all made in Portugal. While they started with formal styles, the range now includes sneakers, sandals, boots, and also a selection of accessories.
The classic menswear scene in Oslo isn’t huge, which means these kinds of events often feel like a reunion of familiar faces — something I’ve come to really enjoy.
Alongside great conversations and some thoroughly enjoyable rosé, we browsed the shelves, tried on a few pairs, and I very nearly gave in to the temptation of a pair of black calf leather loafers I’ve had my eye on for a while. Maybe next time...
One detail I appreciated was how the various sole options were on display — a great way to showcase the craftsmanship behind each pair. The store also stocks a full range of care essentials: shoe cream, polish, and brushes for every purpose.
